Lillian's University of Pittsburgh Graduation

Today, my sister Lillian turns 23. She is brilliant and beautiful and a little silly at times. I love people who don’t take themselves too seriously. Last year, she completed her bachelor’s degree in pursuit of a career as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, so today I’m sharing images from her graduation day. My family and I made a trip to the University of Pittsburgh commencement ceremony. It was colder than it might look in these pictures, but the trip was so worth it. Maybe I’m alone in this, but I love the excitement of graduation. We may have ended up in the nosebleed section, but the atmosphere was thick with joy. This school knows how to celebrate!

Lillian, I hope your day is amazing. I wish we lived closer and could celebrate this day together. I’m so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and am excited to see you reach your goals. I love and celebrate you even from hundreds of miles away. Keep going!
