Ian & Sam's Virginia Wedding at the Historic Riverview on the James

Today, Ian and Sam celebrate their 3rd wedding anniversary. So, we’re going to celebrate with them by revisiting their wedding day!

Sam and Ian’s wedding took place just as summer was giving way to fall at the Historic Riverview on the James in Lynchburg, Virginia. It was too early to see the change in color, but bright sunshine and the slightly cooler temperatures made it clear that it was the perfect day for a wedding. When I arrived, the ladies were gathering their things and settling in for a bridal brunch, wearing the robes that Sam had gifted them. The air was filled with excitement, laughter, and a few deep breaths to ease the nerves.

When Sam told me that she planned to be married in her mother-in-law’s wedding gown, I thought it was such a sweet touch to the wedding day. I loved the vintage lace details throughout the dress. Once hair and makeup were done, Sam got into her dress and did a first look with her dad. It was so cute to see them share the moment together.

After spending some time with the ladies, I headed over to meet the guys who would stand with Ian. They were such a fun group of guys who didn’t mind the extra face time with the camera. For their groomsmen gifts, Ian presented each of them with a custom pin that they would wear as his groomsmen. Even the littlest guy on Ian’s team got one!

Next, it was ceremony time. The wedding party walked down the aisle over a selection of oriental rugs. With a groomsman on the saxophone and the cutest little flower girl/ring bearer duo stealing the show. Sam and her father fought back tears as they walked down the aisle, just before Sam and Ian promised forever.

On their wedding day, I was amazed at the love that surrounded them. Little did I know, shortly after the wedding, Ian’s sister would give her kidney to her brother’s new bride. That’s the level of love that’s shared here between these families. When you get married, you promise to be love each other in sickness and in health. Ian and Sam, your love story is truly inspiring. Happy Anniversary!
