Raleigh Quadruplets Newborn Session - The Four Harpbeats

Photographing quadruplets has been one of the major highlights of my career thus far. I mean just look at these precious little faces! Their amazing parents Gerald and Dayna navigated the heartbreak of pregnancy loss and found themselves on the other end of the spectrum, learning that they were expecting four little ones this time around - two boys and two girls. I was so excited and honored to be able to capture their growing family for them! Check out that sweet smile from Sydney! ;)

Dayna’s love for warm, neutral tones drove my design for this session. Honestly, the colors were my saving grace because even looking at these pictures now, I can’t tell the boys apart! Dayna also shared with me about their nickname and hashtag for their quadruplets: The Four Harpbeats (#the4harpbeats). The name was coined by one of Dayna’s friends after they heard the babies’ heartbeats on the ultrasound (it’s a callback to the movie - The Five Heartbeats, but incorporates the Harpers’ last name as well). This was such a cute, unique aspect of their story that I knew we had to get a shot of them in these heart bowls, too. I love the way these turned out!

To make this session even more special, Dayna’s parents were able to join us for the newborn session. It was so sweet to be able to photograph these babies with their grandparents.

The newborn season of life is a highly emotional time, so I’m always prepared for tears from mamas, but when I started placing the quadruplets in these little beds, Dayna’s father started tearing up. I always take tears as a compliment :)

After we captured the babies and their grandparents, we took some time to photograph just the parents together. These two have such a cool vibe between them it only make sense that they met in a cigar lounge. They are also very active in Greek life, so we took a couple of shots to highlight these elements of who they are together. The Harper family was amazing to work with. Gerald and Dayna, I know that raising quadruplets was not on your radar when you started this life together, but I know that you’ll create a new rhythm that works for you. It was such a privilege working with you and capturing your little ones while they’re still little. I hope you love these images for years to come.
